Artist Depression

   Well I finished two new pieces yesterday for my 'Butterfly in Fantasy' Series. I must say I am getting really disappointed as well as a few other members at Fine Art America. Having been there for almost  9 months, to barely get my work noticed. It tends to make an artist want to give up because it makes them not feel worthy. I know I have some originality and my work says a lot about myself.  Am I that uninteresting? Really? Well I have worked hard on these pieces and I don't like to up load anything I am not satisfied with, although there is a few there that I would like to take down, but reality is that this is who I am.

   Anyway, here are my newest pieces. Please remember that you can purchase just regular prints of excellent quality along with mattes and frames, canvas prints, or greeting cards on almost all my work at Fine Art America. The only images that I don't have greeting cards for are the panoramas because they just don't fit.

"It was hard to come up with just name for this particular series- I tend to come up with things in my mind that don't make a lot of sense to most- but this series represents in a sense of putting your emotions out there spread out on butterfly wings. The butterfly wings represent the beauty of emotion and I have tried to put them more or less in a type of fantasy setting using my own photographs, old and new. I hope you enjoy them as much as I enjoyed making them." - Janie Lynn

About the Fine Art America TV Contest and the Finalists

  This contest was quite a ride! A group of Artists had pulled together a long with each one of their own friends, fans and family. Last minute count down put everyone in a frenzy and most of us thinking we would need a complete miracle to ever reach 250 public votes. I myself had just entered this contest only a month prior to the end, and some entered only days and weeks before. The last week, I promoted like I have never promoted before, learning a lot as well from my new found FAA friends.  I want to share a link to a blog that was created telling our story of this really quite overwhelming journey. This blog features all of our facebook fan pages and our artists profiles and websites.

  The stats for this contest were quite astounding! Over 5,000 artists from FAA entered into this contest and over 14,000 images submitted ( as were all allowed to have 3 images) . Out of all those images submitted, only 151 images made it 250 vote count moving them into the second round where there will be a panel of judges to establish which 5 images will represent the new FAA  tv commercial.

  This first round obviously was not just about getting votes, but about your marketing skills ability, and without this group collectively helping each other with ideas on promotion, I never would have been able to get my 150 outside of FAA votes. There are truly many wonderful artists here at FAA not only in their artistic abilities but in heart as well.
